General Information

The UC Research Security Office (UCRSO), a unit of the UC Laboratory Management Office (UCLMO), ensures that the Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DoD) Facility Clearances granted to The Regents of The University of California are in compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM, DoD 5220.22-M) and the requirements of various federal agencies.

The UCRSO assists individuals with obtaining or maintaining their individual clearances. Through the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the UCRSO arranges for the badging of UCLMO employees and other UC representatives whose work requires them to visit restricted areas of the Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories and other DOE or DoD facilities.

Security clearance briefings, foreign travel briefings, and various security awareness briefings are also provided through the UCRSO.
